Bruno Guimaraes name drops Cristiano Ronaldo amid rumours Newcastle have made contact

Brazil star Bruno Guimaraes doesn’t believe signing big-names is the right way to create a winning team at Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old has been one of the best Brazilian players in Europe this season, helping Newcastle enter top four race despite being in relegation battle just one year ago.

Newcastle success has been achieved by signing the right players in transfer windows rather than going for high-profile names.

Bruno said: “The way I agreed to come to the club was also something remarkable. Today anyone wants to come to Newcastle, the richest team in the world, but I arrived with the team doing bad, pointed out as virtually relegated. Trippier and I were the first to believe in the project, so fans have a special affection.

“I think Newcastle need players with that mentality, it’s not about signing everyone just because they have money. It’s not bringing Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Mbappe. It’s not like this.”

  1. We need to find the future stars not already established ones who will disturb the dressing room with there egos. The team behind scenes have picked the right characters and all the lads have stepped up Bruno is 100% right in what he is saying

    1. I agree with you as an LFC fan we have achieved by doing it that way but think the bigger issue is the ego in an established dressing room clearly Newcastle have the right set up and a big ego will do untold damage, but the club might have other ideas

  2. At the moment if i could choose any one player to come to Newcastle it would have to be Federico Chiesa. I would even swap St Max for him

  3. Absolutely spot on Bruno. A high profile player who doesn’t buy into the ethos and team spirit can actually have the opposite effect and drag the team down.
