Nigeria have taken the lead in the African Cup of Nations final against Ivory Coast.

It was far from the prettiest of goals, however, the Super Eagles don’t care one bit as William Troost Ekong headed them into the lead in the 38th minute of the AFCON final.

It’s only fitting that the captain of the national team found the back of the net first – literally leading by example.

Ivory Coast have caused Nigeria issues in the first half having created two big chances, but they’ve missed both of those instances. The only positive for the host nation is that there is still enough time to turn their fortunes around.
