Latest Transfer Rumours: Metzelder, Billy Jones, Sharp, Etherington, Mariga and Arizmendi

The world of Premiership transfer gossip is full of nonsense, but some nonsense is more interesting that the other nonsense. Speculation is rife in the likes of the Mirror, Daily Mail, Times, Sun and… err… Tribal Football all do their best to predict and/or completely make up the future.

Here’s our opinion on the Premiership transfer rumours we’ve read in the papers and around the net… and if you have any thoughts, pop em in the comments.

CaughtOffside Says:

CaughtOffside Says:Ledley King Out + Leyton Orient defender In = Feces flung at White Hart Lane.

CaughtOffside Says: Much better. Metzelder is a giant of a centre back and the sort of player who would do well in the Premiership. A significantly better choice than the bloke above, and wouldn’t result in Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy being fed his own toes.

CaughtOffside Says:Pacy, young, good finisher. English? He’s already at an age (21) where he’ll be hoping to play regularly and a little too old to be considered a “prospect” that Liverpool can really help develop. So given that US funding is on its way, we think this one is bollocks. Rafa is going to be going for established stars or teenage wonderkids to improve an already strong squad.

CaughtOffside Says: We like Kazim-Richards, good on the ball and should turn out to be a decent Premiership player – worthy of earning a spot on another club in England rather than having to deal with the various unsavory things that happen in the Turkish league.

CaughtOffside Says:Apparently he can run all day… Wahay!

CaughtOffside Says:Exactly the kind of no-frills, rugged player that would fit in well with Everton. He’s got a bit of an attacking side, and is versatile enough to line up in multiple positions. And he’s been dubbed the “Next Jamie Carragher”. All of this information comes to us via our current FM2007 game.

CaughtOffside Says: Etherington is going to be a staple of newly promoted sides for years to come. His end product is far too crap for most truly ambitious clubs, but he’s quite pacy and can dribble about randomly making him useful to Championship sides.
