Tottenham man nears long awaited exit: Good luck to him!
May 6, 2008
One Spurs player who was always more than likely to leave come the end of the season was on loan keeper Radek Cerny, and now offers have come in for him but surely he could have secured a Premier League contract?
Tottenham keeper Radek Cerny claims QPR have offered him a contract. (Daily Mirror)
During his time at White Hart Lane I think the 34 year old Czech did okay and was unlucky to not get more of a chance in the face of the blundering that Robbo was subjecting the fans to. He has done well over the course of the last five games and whilst he was never going to make a big name for himself in north London I think he has done a workmanlike job for the club. Will Spurs fans be wishing the keeper well for the future?
Spurs chase £6m Premier League ace: Could be a very clever signing!
May 6, 2008
Juande Ramos continues to peruse many options for potential bids in the summer. This latest one is a little surprising but could on the face of it be a very intelligent signing.
.
Spurs are considering making a £6 million bid for Birmingham City attacking midfielder Olivier Kapo.
Kapo said: “I signed for three years for Birmingham and I want to stay here. I like it here. My family like Birmingham. For me, in my head, I am staying here.” (Birmingham Mail)
The 27 year old former Juventus man has impressed me on the occasions that I have seen him in action. The attacking midfielder always seems to have time on the ball and looks intelligent and seems to have a great deal of vision. He could be a very good buy for Spurs and obviously should the midlands club get relegated then presumably the French international may not be quite so keen on staying at St Andrews. Do Birmingham rate Kapo? Do Tottenham supporters see this signing as being a plausible or wise one?
Arsenal line up a £10m Flamini replacement who is better than French traitor!
May 6, 2008
Whether you think it was right or wrong that Mathieu decided to leave the club no one can surely defend the manner of his exit. A guessing game that lasted months where the Frenchman seem to continuously pledge his future at the club only to flee to the highest bidder. However is there a battling replacement on it’s way from the San Siro?
£10m rated AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso could be a target for Arsenal, with the Italian international considering a move to the Premier League as a potential new challenge (Independent)
Could it happen? The former Rangers man has been pretty much inspirational during his near on decade at AC Milan. But apparently he is looking for a fresh challenge and likes the idea of moving to the Premier League. He may be 30 but he is showing no signs of lacking stamina or desire so maybe Arsene will make an exception for the man who may well make way for Flamini at Milan? Surely it would be a signing to lessen the blow of the Flamster’s traitorous depatures? What do Gunners feel about this potential signing?
4 OUT, 3 IN, Liverpool make £30m transfer bids: Rafa starts summer planning
May 6, 2008
So, here we are just one match from seasons end and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has many irons in the fire. With moves involving a mass of Premier League teams including Aston Villa, Portsmouth and Newcastle among others.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is on the verge of a summer clearout with £30m rated quartet Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant, John Arne Riise and Xabi Alonso all set to leave in order to bring in the cash for bid for the likes of Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry, Borussia Dortmund full-back Philipp Degen and Wigan Athletic’s Antonio Valencia. (various)
So that’s one hell of a transfer mouthful. Some of these deals seem more likely than others but it does seem like the Spaniard wants to make a raft of changes. Are the players linked with moves to and from Anfield the kind that Liverpool fans would agree with?
Arsenal in £50m super-swap deal: This will surely never happen!
May 6, 2008
Look closely at the source, yes it’s from one of the true legends of rumour creations! This really does make you scratch your head, a deal surely based totally in fiction or am I wrong, could it really happen?
Barcelona are planning a mammoth bid for Arsenal’s Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The Catalan club may offer Samuel Eto’o, Deco, Eidur Gudjohnsen or former Gunner Thierry Henry in a part-exchange deal. (Daily Star)
Pure craziness! Or is it? Well lets look at this carefully, Cesc has constantly said he is not leaving, so I believe him, which therefore leaves these rumours in tatters. Also in terms of the players offerered in any potential exchange, surely it would have to be a combination of these players, and not just one or even two of them. Anyway Fabregas is not about to do a Flamini, and it would be best for all concerned if the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid just kept their paws out of it! What do Arsenal fans think?
Spurs to bid for £6m Zokora replacement: Would be a very good signing
May 6, 2008
Didier Zokora is not the greatest player in the world and in fact he can be on his day one of the most frustrating players on the planet. There is now speculation linking a player with similar attributes who would surely do a better job than the Ivorian!
Tottenham have joined the race for £6m rated Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng. Also chasing the 32 year old are Celtic and Sunderland.
Boateng was due to move to White Hart Lane in January but the deal fell through when Didier Zokora refused a move the other way. Boateng admitted last week he will be leaving Boro. (The People)
I am a big fan of George Boateng. He plays with a smile on his face always gives his all and knows exactly what his role is in the team. I have very rarely see him put a foot wrong and for all of these reasons he would be a marked improvement on Mr Zokora. Yes Boateng is no spring chicken but he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down right now so he is well worth signing. What do Tottenham fans think?
Newcastle after classy £10m pair: ONE good, ONE average
May 6, 2008
Kevin Keegan has today bemoaned the fact that sides outside the Champions League Quartet are doomed to failure
“The top four next year will be the same top four as this year, what I can say to the Newcastle fans is that we will be trying to get fifth and we will be trying to win the other league that’s going on within the Premier League. I haven’t got enough money and I wouldn’t be able to get the players anyway (to do any better than that), so I will soldier on with what I’ve got and maybe add one or two, maybe three, depending what’s available.”
(various)
Newcastle are lining up a £4m bid for Fulham midfielder Steven Davis who has impressed while on loan at Rangers this season.(Daily Mirror)
Kevin Keegan is also keen to bring £6m rated Everton striker Andrew Johnson to St James’ Park. (Daily Mirror)
If Steven Davis doesn’t move to Ibrox then I strongly suggest Keegan goes for the Northern Ireland international. He really has been in phenomenal form since he moved to Glasgow. He may have only arrived less than 3 months ago but he has already started 18 matches and has helped Walter Smith’s side towards a possible quadruple. I am not quite so sure that Andy Johnson would be such a great signing, the Magpies already have a few decent strikers (all of whom are better than the Everton man) and I am sure there are better strikers on offer. What do United fans think about these two possible additions to the St James’ Park squad?
Liverpool line up £12m superstar bid – This guy would be great signing!
May 6, 2008
Rafa, always keen to add big name signings, has added another to his wish-list and this is one superstar who could prove very useful indeed at Anfield.
Liverpool have set their sights on Barcelona’s £12m rated French left-back Frank Abidal (Daily Express)
Eric Abidal is a quality player who has been a regular at the Nou Camp since signing in the summer, however he (like many other players at the beleaguered club) seems to be on his way out of the La Liga club. The 28 year old is a international fixture for the French team and is at his peak and would surely be quite a coup if Rafa could snare him. What do Liverpool fans think of this potential signing?
West Ham and Spurs after intelligent £3.5m man: But where will he go?
May 6, 2008
Alan Curbishley will be looking to invest in his squad but he will not want to splurge big money on players, he tried that last summer and due to injuries and poor form those signings failed. West Ham have now been linked with a clever player who has been in top form in the Championship this season. Tottenham are also believed to be considering a move for the talented youngster.
West Ham United are about to move for Wolves winger Michael Kightly.(The Mirror)
Tottenham are also interested in a move for Kightly (Daily Mail)
22 year old Kightly has had seen his career sky rocket in recent seasons. After being released by Southend he got stuck in at Grays and netted an incredible amount of goals from the midfield and the wing. He had a great season at Molinuex but now it appears he may be about to leave Wolves for a move back to London and into the Premier League. Do West Ham and Spurs fans like the look of Kightly?
Arsenal chase record breaking £15m attacker: Damn good prospect!
May 6, 2008
Flamini’s departure will have left a bad taste in the mouth for all Gunners fans so they could do with some cheering up, and what better way to do that than to have Arsene Wenger bring in some fantastic new talent to the Emirates! And here is just one such player!
Arsenal are chasing £15m rated Olympique Marseille attacking midfielder Samir Nasri who’s contract talks at hte French club have stalled (The Daily Star)
Samir Nasri is a hugely talented Frenchman, a 20 year old with an already impressive collection of matches under his belt. He plays the Arsene way, in much the same way as often mentioned fellow countrymen Ben Arfa and Benzema, and has been one of the main reasons that Marseille are back to being the force they once were. The French international has already seemingly made it clear he wants a move away and surely he will treat the Gunners with more respect than the last man they picked up from the South of France club! Do Arsenal fans rate Nasri? Or are there more than enough young talents in the squad?
Spurs linked with £20m trio for the future: Could be just what they need
May 6, 2008
Juande Ramos continues to be linked with big name signings left right and centre, but here are three lesser known talents of the younger variety that show that the Spaniard may be keen to beef up the squad with youth.
Tottenham are chasing Real Zaragoza attacker Sergio Garcia.(AS)
Spurs are ready to bid for the ex-Barcelona forward Garcia, who is likely to be made available by cash-strapped Zaragoza at the end of the season.
Tottenham are chasing Samir Handanovic as they look for a new keeper and the Udinese stopper said: “I believe my future away from Udine all depends on how well I play. If I do well at this club, then opportunities will open up for me, but that doesn’t mean I want to leave.” (various)
Arsenal and Spurs after Lille midfielder Jean Makoun (setantasports.com)
Makoun’s agent, Jean-Christophe Thouvenel, said: “Makoun is on Arsenal’s short-list if Flamini leaves. Tottenham are also interested in the midfielder and I believe that (sporting director) Damien Comolli is an admirer of Jean.”
All these targets seem quite wise, they are all the right side of 25 and all have a decent level of experience to call upon. More importantly they are all playing for the lesser clubs in their respective leagues and would surely jump at a chance to join Ramos’s Spurs revolution. Which of these excites Spurs fans?
Aston Villa and West Ham battle it out for £5m Premier League star
May 6, 2008
Gareth Southgate appears to have a big of a problem in the summer, a host of players seem to have made it clear they are on the lookout for a Riverside exit, and this latest target has attracted many suitors.
Aston Villa and West Ham are showing interest in £5m-rated midfielder Gary O’Neil, who is set to quit Middlesbrough just 10 months after signing. (The Sun)
The 25 year old’s career has stuttered somewhat in recent years and his move to Boro hasn’t been a fantastic one. Clearly both Curbs and Martin O’Neill have much to offer the former England Under 21 man but which club would win the race?
Arsenal to bid for £15m Premier League striker: But why?
May 6, 2008
One transfer rumour (of many) that does not seem to make sense is as follows.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is considering a £15m bid for Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins.
The Nigeria international is still in talks with Newcastle over a new contract. (Telegraph)
It’s not that I don’t rate the Newcastle striker I just don’t see Wenger really being that interested to the extent that he would put in a transfer record busting bid for the Nigerian? Yes he scores goals (although not that many) but does his direct style really suit the Gunners? What do Arsenal fans think? Also do Newcastle fans rate Obi that highly?
Liverpool man seems sure to leave for £8m: But is it a big mistake?
May 6, 2008
Rafa Benitez could be about to make a mistake as he looks set to let a player head for the Anfield exit.
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp will bid £8m for Liverpool striker Peter Crouch. (Various)
Peter Crouch has done enough to earn a decent contract in my view and should really be considered as a possible regular partner for Torres instead of just playing the occasional game here and there. What do Liverpool fans think? Is he worth keeping? After 40 goals in a Reds shirt surely he deserves a decent shot back in the first team rather than letting him leave the club.
Arsenal line up £15m midfielder to cope with mass exodus: Would be a great signing!
May 6, 2008
Depending on which papers you believe, and its never a good idea to believe any of them, there are a few other Arsenal players supposedly on their way out at the Emirates. However there is also a great player linked with the club to make up for this supposed ‘exodus’!
Arsene Wenger is reportedly after £15m rated Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar as a potential replacement for Alexander Hleb. (Daily Mirror)
Kranjcar is a quality player with excellent touch and he plays the way all good Wenger signings play. Harry Redknapp will find it hard to keep Niko at Fratton Park if the Gunners came calling. Do Arsenal fans rate the 23 year old Croat?
