Premier League champions Manchester United are set to make a last-gasp move for unsettled Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola after the Catalan’s recent managerial ultimatum to the Bavarian giants, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The 43-year-old issues a sack me or back me plea to the Bundesliga champions on Friday in the wake of the club’s elimination from the Uefa Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid at the semi-final stage on Tuesday night.

The European champions were surprisingly thrashed 4-0 by Los Blancos at the Allianz Arena in their second-leg clash to exit Europe’s premier club competition 5-0 on aggregate, a result which saw the former FC Barcelona trainer come in for heavy criticism for the style of play Bayern have adopted so far in this campaign, and in particular from a number of ex-Munich players.

And now following Guardiola’s ultimatum to his bosses in Bavaria, reports are beginning to surface in the UK claiming that the Red Devils are set to switch their managerial focus away from red-hot favourite Louis van Gaal towards the Bayern boss in the hope that they may be able to persuade him to move to Old Trafford this summer.
