It’s easy to forget that the Rams had a brilliant season the last time they were in the Championship. Under Billy Davies, they made numerous comebacks to win games by a slender margin, eventually culminating in promotion through the play-offs. One of the key players in Derby’s successful campaign was their goalkeeper, and it looks like he’s staying put at Pride Park after Spurs pulled out of a deal to sign him. Ipswich sign Bywater from Derby

Derby County goalkeeper Stephen Bywater is set to drop into the Championship and don on the colours of the Tractors. ComeonBoro reports that the custodian is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Ipswich Town who are currently ploughing in the second-tier of English football.

Town boss Jim Magilton says:

Stephen is a young, ambitious goalkeeper who knows what is needed to win promotion from this division. We are delighted to have him with us and he will stay here on loan with a view to making it a permanent move in the summer.

The move will be a loan deal at the moment with Ipswich retaining an option to sign the player on a permanent basis in the summer.
