Santos Begin Contract Talks With Striker Neymar

Brazilian club keen to keep hold of wonderkid.

Santos are desperate to hold on to striker Neymar and have begun talks with the player’s representatives over a new contract according to Sambafoot.com.

The Brazilian youngster is currently one of the hottest properties on the planet after a number of impressive performances for his club and the Brazilian national team.

The likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for the player with some reports suggesting Catalan giants Barcelona have already agreed a pre-contract deal with the player.

Neymar strongly denies any such agreement is in place and that has fuelled speculation regarding a possible summer move.

But the player has repeatedly insisted he is happy at Santos and may turn down a big money move in favour of extending his stay in Brazil.

The player is concerned about making a move to unfamiliar surroundings with the World Cup finals tournament in his homeland just around the corner.

Reports are suggesting that Santos have offered the player a new £80,000 a week deal to extend his stay with the club beyond the 2014 World Cup.

While Neymar is unlikely to stay at Santos for that long, the player’s contract currently expires at the end of next season and if no new deal is agreed, the wonderkid could become available on a free transfer.
