Red Devils eye summer swoop for France international star.
Manchester United are pondering a big-money move to sign Newcastle United midfield player Yohan Cabaye at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
It is an open secret at Old Trafford that United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson has been on the look-out for a long-term replacement for veteran former England international Paul Scholes for some time.
However, it is believed that the Scot has now earmarked the Magpies’ highly-rated playmaker as being the ideal man with which to replace the ginger-haired ball player in the centre of the park next season.
So much so, that Ferguson even shipped his chief scout, brother Martin, off to St James’ Park to watch the 27-year-old in action on Thursday night in Newcastle’s Europa League last-eight second-leg clash with the Portuguese giants.
And itis understood that the North-East giants would be willing to allow their France international to join the Premier League champions-elect this summer for a fee of around £15 million.
