Brazilian defender a fan of United striker.
Chelsea defender David Luiz says he would welcome the signing of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney for Chelsea, according to the Sun.
The unhappy England striker has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford this summer after submitting a transfer request at the club, and was left out of yesterday’s squad for the match against Swansea City.
This has led to the United forward being linked with a whole host of Europe’s top clubs, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG all showing an interest in the 27-year-old.
Even United’s Premier League rivals have shown an interest, with somewhat surprising links to Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal surfacing.
Chelsea could do with a new striker next season, with the off-form Fernando Torres likely to be sold and Demba Ba not showing enough quality to be first choice since joining from Newcastle in January.
Rooney would be an ideal signing, and Chelsea are one of the few clubs who could afford both the hefty transfer fee and wages he is likely to command, putting them in a strong position to sign him, which would go down well with Luiz.
“Everyone knows about his quality so if he wants to come to Chelsea, why not? I’d be happy with it,” he said.
