Latics boss to hold talks with chairman Dave Whelan.
Wigan fans face an anxious wait as manager Roberto Martinez and club chairman Dave Whelan prepare for talks over the coming days according to Sky Sports.
Speculation regarding the future of Martinez has been rife ever since the club had their relegation from the Premier League confirmed following their defeat to Arsenal.
It has been a bittersweet season for Latics fans as they have seen their team go from the ecstasy of winning the FA Cup to the pain of facing the prospect of Championship football next season.
Relegation has failed to tarnish the reputation of Martinez who has been praised for what he has been able to achieve on a limited budget.
The Spaniard is thought to be amongst the front-runners to replace David Moyes at Everton after the Goodison Park side confirmed the Scottish manager would be moving to Old Trafford to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager.
Martinez and Whelan are set to meet next Monday following which an announcement is likely to be made on Martinez’s future.
Martinez has also been linked with the Malaga job should Manchester City appoint Manuel Pellegrini as the replacement for Roberto Mancini, who they sacked last week.
