Incoming Old Trafford boss ready to conduct Goodison Park raid.
Man United boss David Moyes is ready to raid his former club in pursuit of Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini with the Guardian reporting that the player’s £24m release clause not being an obstacle to the Old Trafford side’s interest in the Everton star.
Indeed this source suggests that Moyes is not interested in bringing in Fellaini’s team-mate Leighton Baines, who has often been linked with a move to Man United with the Scot seemingly focusing his interest intently on the powerful midfielder.
David Moyes is keen to strengthen his midfield. With Paul Scholes’s retiring for a second time, Anderson continuing to flatter to deceive and Darren Fletcher still recovering from illness there is certainly scope for an addition to boost a potential area of weakness in his Man United squad.
Fellaini is said to have a good working relationship with Moyes, who signed him from Standard Liège for a club record fee.
Everton would be loathed to lose any of their top performers but such sales are perhaps inevitable now that the club’s long serving boss has left and a lot could well depend on whom chairman Bill Kenwright brings in to replace David Moyes.
Fellaini has spent five seasons at Everton and is arguably no nearer to securing the Champions League football he reportedly longs for and definitely deserves.
