Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is the latest player being linked with big-spending French club Monaco, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 32-year-old has two years left on his contract at United, but has suffered a slight dip in form over the last year or two, leading to suggestions that he may be surplus to requirements at the club.

His future has come under particular scutiny as it is apparent that new manager David Moyes wants to bring in Leighton Baines from his old club Everton, who has been arguably the best left-back in the Premier League this season.

Evra initially joined United from Monaco for £5.5million in 2006, and may be tempted to return to his old club as they look like building an exciting new team for their promotion to Ligue 1 next season.

Backed by their wealthy Russian owner, manager Claudio Ranieri has already been able to bring in some world class stars in the shape of Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, with the promise of more to follow.

Evra could be next, and the Frenchman could be joined by the likes of Hulk, Carlos Tevez and Eden Hazard.
