Old Trafford side set sights on Vitesse Arnhem playmaker.
Man United are to step up their efforts to beat Chelsea to the signing of impressive young Dutch international Marco Van Ginkel according to the Daily Star.
The 20 year old Vitesse Arnhem playmaker is currently in Israel with the Dutch Under 21 side and Man United have sent chief scout Jim Lawlor to monitor the youngster’s progress and will not have been disappointed with what he will have seen of the goal-scoring midfielder.
Van Ginkel had a standout season in the Eredivisie, scoring eight and providing another eight assists as his side secured their best domestic finish since 1998.
David Moyes has set his sights on a number of potential summer additions but most entail big money bids for established stars such as Everton’s Marouane Fellaini or Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas so it will be interesting to see if the incoming Man United boss elects to adopt a more youthful transfer policy, in keeping with the manner in which Sir Alex Ferguson was operating in his final seasons at Old Trafford.
Man United could well do with a goal-scoring midfielder and Marco Van Ginkel could ably link midfield and attack and it’s an area Moyes may be looking to freshen up since the retirement, for a second time, of Paul Scholes.
