Old Trafford star wants out.
Man United striker Wayne Rooney wants to quit the Premier League title holders according to The Sun.
The 27 year old England man is set for ‘show-down’ talks with incoming boss David Moyes today but this source claims that the Old Trafford forward is determined to leave Man United, and former assistant boss Mike Phelan believes Rooney has his heart set on a move away from the club, stating;
“Wayne is at the greatest club you can be at.”
“Why would you want to jeopardise that, unless you want a fresh challenge and you feel that challenge isn’t being met at Manchester United.”
Rooney has reiterated his denial of any ‘verbal’ transfer request, which in turn would suggest that Sir Alex Ferguson and other’s in the Man United camp had invented the story, which would seem to serve little or no purpose.
The striker has of course previously stated his intention to leave the club but a few years ago was convinced to back-track on this decision, with the help of a bumper new pay packet, it remains to be seen whether Man United will allow a similar deal to be forced upon them.
