The Blues have denied that Mata may be sold this summer.
Chelsea fans would be “appalled” if the club sold midfielder Juan Mata says supporter spokesman David Chidgey, as speculation mounts that the Spaniard could be sold this summer, Goal.com reports.
Reports on Wednesday suggested that Mata was offered to Manchester United as part of a deal to bring Wayne Rooney to Stamford Bridge.
Although Mata was arguably Chelsea’s best player last season, reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho is quite happy for the midfielder to be sold, with the transfer fee being used on some of his own targets.
Chidgey says that the fans don’t want the Spaniard to leave the club following a highly successful two year spell at Stamford Bridge.
CST spokesman David Chidgey told Perform: “I think most Chelsea supporters would be absolutely appalled at Juan Mata being offered up for a part-exchange deal or looking to get him out the club”.
“He’s clearly been the best player in our team in the last two seasons and he provided the most assists in the Premier League last season”.
Mata scored 20 goals from midfield for Chelsea last season and has been regarded as one of the best play-makers currently playing in the Premier League.
Chelsea denied that Mata had been offered to Manchester United as part exchange for Rooney and the overwhelming feeling of the fans seems to that they would rather Mata be at Stamford Bridge next season and not Rooney.
