Wayne Rooney will meet Manchester United boss David Moyes for talks this week about the strikers future at Old Trafford, Goal.com reports.

The pair haven’t met face to face for around a month, ever since Rooney returned from the Red Devil’s pre-season tour of Asia with an injury.

Since then, Rooney has become increasingly unsettled at Old Trafford due to Moyes’s comments about him being second choice striker behind Robin Van Persie for the forth coming season.

Now the pair will begin talks over the strikers future at United’s Carrington training ground where Moyes will reiterate his desire to have Rooney stay at the club whereas the striker will state his intent to move away.

Chelsea are interested in signing the unsettled striker and have already had a £20 million bid rejected by the Red Devils.

However, Chelsea look set to return to Old Trafford with an improved offer in a bid to test United’s resolve in keeping the England international.

At the moment, United appear intent on keeping the striker at the club for at least another year.

Rooney only has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and it is believed that the club will offer him a new deal next summer if he has a good season.
