Aussie star unfazed by the prospect of a hostile reception

Harry Kewell has issued a warning to any Melbourne Victory fans who are thinking of booing him

When the Dark Blues and his new side Melbourne Heart meet on October 12th, Kewell speaking to Melbourne radio station SEN told listeners being heckled would actually make him play better.

He said: “Why would they boo me? I went for family reasons. You know what, the more they boo, the better I play,

One of the main reasons Kewell came back to Australia was to make his presence known to Socceroos boss  Holger Osieck with the aim of getting into the squad for the forthcoming world cup.

“As a footballer, as a person you just want to go there [the World Cup in Brazil] because it is going to be amazing.

“But I think first and foremost, I’ve got to play well for the Heart and if you play well for your club then you have a chance to play for your country. If you’re not playing week in week out for your club then you’ll have no chance.

“The only thing in can do now, is not only prove to myself, but prove to the nation, that I’m ready to step up and go to Brazil.”
