Former Milan midfielder set to undertake first managerial post.
New Palermo coach Gennaro Gattuso has said that every game this season will be a battle as the club prepare to bounce back to Serie A at the first time of asking.
Speaking with the club’s official website, the former AC Milan and Italy midfielder told of his desire to get the new season underway by insisting that he is ready for challenge at hand.
“Each match will be a battle,” he said.
“It’s a challenging start but we know we are facing a tough league.
“Each match will be a battle and we have to be ready.”
Gattuso left the San Siro last summer to join Swiss club FC Sion. However, he took over the reigns as manager of the club toward the end of the season, but could only last three months before he was given his marching orders.
Not out of work for long, club president Maurizio Zamparini sought to offer the 35-year-old a second route into management with the Sicilian outfit following their relegation from Serie A last season.
However, Gattuso faces life with star man Josip Illic after he fled the island for top flight football with Champions League chasers Fiorentina.
