The clubs senior players are worried that the Rooney situation is causing the squad to become unsettled.
Members of Manchester United’s squad are unhappy at Wayne Rooney for trying to force his way out of Old Trafford, the Daily Mirror reports.
Several senior members of the United first team, including Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand, are reportedly unhappy at the unsettling affect that the Rooney saga is having on United’s squad.
The striker was due to fly out with the United squad to Sweden for a pre season friendly against AIK but pulled out hours before departure due to a minor shoulder injury.
Rooney held talks with manager David Moyes on Monday, where he reiterated his intention to leave the club this summer and asked Moyes how much it would take for United to sell him.
Chelsea have made Rooney their main transfer target for the summer and had a second bid for the striker turned down at the weekend.
The Blues are reportedly readying a third bid for Rooney but Moyes doesn’t want to sell the striker to one of the clubs title rivals, meaning Chelsea may have to break their own transfer record to sign the England international.
That could mean paying over £50 million for Rooney, an amount Chelsea are unlikely to pay.
Rooney’s next step maybe to hand in transfer request but United have already said that they won’t sell him even if he does go down that road.
