Old Trafford boss keen on former Goodison Park charge.
Man United have launched a bid to sign Everton powerhouse Marouane Fellaini as David Moyes opts to switch attention from Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas to the Belgian midfielder according to the Daily Mirror.
Moyes is yet to make a high profile summer signing and has missed out on a couple of targets and won’t be keen on making Fellaini something of an auspicious hat-trick.
The 25 year old Toffees star has a release clause reportedly set at £23.5m and Man United’s bid is said to be below that so is likely to be swiftly turned down by the Merseyside club but Moyes knows that if the Old Trafford side are willing to meet the price-tag set in Fellaini’s contract then the player is all but their’s and as such an opening offer may just be a cheeky attempt to bring in the player ‘on the cheap’.
Moyes will be keen to freshen up Man United’s brittle midfield, arguably the Premier League title holder’s only real ‘weak point’ and a move for Fellaini could well resolve two issues. The strong Everton star can get stuck in and could offer some much needed steel in the centre of the park and also offers a real goal-scoring alternative to a side that relies heavily on their strike-force for end product.
The Everton man scored a dozen goals in all competitions last term and could perhaps be expected to improve on that at Man United and may well be an ideal replacement for retired legend Paul Scholes.
