Western Sydney Wanderers Squad Close to Completion

Popovic to keep with 21 players

Boss Tony Popovic has stated the additions made to the squad for the 2013/14 season will probably be the last.

Signings  Tomi Juric and Brendan Santalab all boost the sides attacking options, as does versatile Dean Hefferman.

Wanderers, who have the additional strain of competing in this season’s Asian Champions League, something that traditionally wreaks havoc with the A-leagues end of season run-in, will do with just 21 players.

Speaking to Fox Sports Popovic said: “Last year we went with 21 players, and though there’s the option of bringing one or two more in, we’ll only do that if we think they’ll add to the squad.

“At the moment, we’re happy with who we have, and it’s nice to have the squad together a lot earlier and be able to work on things much earlier.

“We brought in Dean Heffernan as well (as the two strikers), a very versatile player and a great professional.

“That ability to play in a number of positions adds depth and competition to the squad.”

Wanderers came top of the A-League last season, but were beaten 2-0 in the Grand Final by Central Coast Mariners, the first Grand Final win for the Mariners after three attempts.
