French starlet denies Old Trafford deal.
Nice midfielder Namplays Mendy has said that there is no deal lined up that will see him join Manchester United this summer, Sky Sports reports.
The highly rated 21-year-old joined the club from Ligue 1 new boys Monaco this summer and chose Nice ahead of a number of larger clubs both at home and overseas.
Mendy had just a year remaining on his deal with the principality club foresaw the influx of talent ahead of time and their promotion back to the French top flight and has since backed his decision to join his current club instead of pursue the higher profile interest from elsewhere.
“I chose Nice and I think it was the right decision,” he told L’Equipe.
“I preferred Nice because the coach talked to me and I liked it. I didn’t hesitate.”
When asked about an agreement with David Moyes’ side, Mendy was quick to dismiss the suggestion.
“No, there is nothing, nothing at all,” he said.
“I aim to join the Under-21 national team. I need to have a series of good performances for the club.”
He had made 80 appearances for Monaco during his three year spell there and even played a major part in getting the side back into the top flight by playing 32 games.
