Wayne Rooney has hinted that his relationship with David Moyes is now at breaking point following several thinly veiled comments directed at the United boss on Facebook, the Daily Mirror reports.

The striker was left out of Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial against Sevilla on Friday night, with Moyes claiming that the striker isn’t fit due to the fact that he hasn’t played many pre-season games this summer.

However, Rooney wanted to play in the match which was dedicated to one of his long term team-mates and posted several loaded comments on Facebook.

Referring to his recent call-up to the England squad which will face Scotland in a friendly, Rooney wrote sarcastically that he appreciated the support he received from his international manager, Roy Hodgson.

“Big thanks to Roy Hodgson for selecting me and showing his faith and support,  appreciate it,” the post read.

This post shows the type of frustration that Rooney is feeling and points to a relationship with Moyes that is becoming fraught.

The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but the Red Devils will not sell the striker to one of their main Premier League rivals and are also reluctant to offer Rooney are new contract following several disappointing displays by the striker last season.
