In-demand defender won’t come cheap.Porto will reportedly demand offers of at least £25m for their in-demand defender Eliaquim Mangala, according to reports on talkSPORT.
The young Frenchman is rated as one of the best up-and-coming defensive prospects in the game at the moment after some highly impressive performances with the Portuguese giants, and was linked with a host of top European clubs during the summer transfer window.
Manchester United are the latest club to join the chase for Mangala’s signature, joining the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona in pursuit of the talented 22-year-old.
With some doubts remaining over the long-term futures of ageing central defensive pair Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, United manager David Moyes will be determined to land a top young defender of Mangala’s quality, as he looks to build a team for the future as well as save his side’s fortunes this season.
The Scot has endured a difficult time since replacing Sir Alex Ferguson as manager of the Red Devils, and also failed to land several top targets during the summer.
He will be hoping for improved fortunes when the transfer window re-opens in January, though Mangala will clearly not come cheap at £25m or more.
