Premier League champions Manchester United are preparing to go head to head with both top-flight rivals Chelsea and Spanish giants Real Madrid in the race to land in-demand Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The newly capped Spain international has been attracting huge amounts of interest in his services of late, so much so that Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido recently slapped a whopping £25m price tag on Moreno’s head in order to ward off any potential suitors.
However, if reports in Spain are to be believed, then the Red Devils are planning on making a move for the 21-year-old at the turn of the year as new United head coach David Moyes continues his long-running search for a replacement for veteran France international Patrice Evra at Old Trafford next season.
It had been expected that the Scot would try and lure former player Leighton Baines to the Theatre of Dreams in January, but it is now believed that Moyes and United view the Everton full back as being too old to take on the role, and so will instead switch their focus towards Moreno.
