Portuguese champions Porto are hoping to bring Manchester United midfield flop Anderson back to the club on loan in January, six years after he originally left them to head to Old Trafford, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

It is believed that manager David Moyes is hoping to shift the player on after he has failed to live up to the £24m price tag that predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson paid for him in 2007 and now his old club would like to have him back.

The Portuguese side are thought to be keen on landing him once again in a loan deal with a view to securing a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Moyes is looking to shake up his squad after a sluggish start to the season has seen his side 12 points behind current leaders Arsenal and Anderson, alongside England international Ashley Young, is believed to be on the chopping block.
