Old Trafford boss David Moyes has apparently been personally scouting the pair with a view to bringing in the centre back Mangala and left-back Sandro as replacements for Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra respectively, with both players set to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

32 year old French international is said to be likely to return to former club AS Monaco and with efforts to bring in Everton star Leighton Baines continue to stutter Moyes has instead turned to Brazilian international Sandro, who at 22 is perhaps a better long term option that the Toffees full-back.

French international Mangala would be an ideal alternative to veteran Ferdinand and the 22 year old FC Porto defender may feel that a move to Old Trafford would offer him a better chance of adding to the one national team cap he currently possesses as well as forcing his way into Didier Deschamps 2014 World Cup finals squad.
