The new Red Devils head coach David Moyes has been keeping close tabs on the recently capped Spain international since last summer’s Uefa European Under-21 championship in Israel, when the player enjoyed an eye-catching tournament as his country were crowned kings of the Continent.

So much so that the Scot has sent scouts out to the Vincente Calderon seven times to watch Koke first hand this campaign, while Moyes himself has even travelled to the Spanish capital on two other occasions to personally run the rule over the highly rated 21-year-old.

However, following a recent long-term wrist injury picked by new £27.5 million signing Marouane Fellaini, Moyes has now asked the Glazer family and chief executive Ed Woodward to sanction another big-money move for a new goalscoring midfield player as soon as the January transfer window reopens next week on January 1.

But after the player renegotiated his contract with the high-flying La Liga outfit at the start of this campaign, the value of Koke’s release clause has now doubled from just 17m euros to a whopping 35m euros.
