Savic left cross-city rivals City in the summer of 2012 for Fiorentina where he has become a regular member of their starting line up, making 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
He spent a year with City, but failed to break into Roberto Mancini’s plans, despite the Italian tactician splashing out £6m on his services from Partizan Belgrade. The 23-year-old made only 11 league appearances for the club during the 2011/12 season, which was just enough to qualify him for a Premier League winners medal, but he soon left for pastures new in Italy.
However, United are said to be willing to bring him back to the Premier League as they seek to fill the boots of veteran defender Nemanja Vidic, who is set to depart at the end of the season.
Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra also look to be on their way out in the summer too, meaning that Moyes will be looking for several new players to help facilitate his defensive overhaul.
