William Carvalho could move to Old Trafford in the summer…
Ahead of this summer’s expectedly huge transfer window for Manchester United, the Red Devils have opened talked with Sporting Lisbon for uber talented midfield gem William Carvalho, reports the Sun.
The 21-year-old has excelled in the Portuguese top flight this term, impressing everyone with his box-to-box work-rate and his technical ability on the ball. He’s scored twice, and his form has earned him caps for the national side. At this stage of the season, that means he’ll likely go to the World Cup.
Unfortunately for United, Carvalho has a £30m release clause which his club are reportedly not willing to budge on.
With Chelsea and Real Madrid both hovering though, the Old Trafford club may be prepared to spend big to make sure they don’t miss out the youngster.
At 6 ft. 2″, he is physically imposing, and would provide the midfield with some dynamism and combativeness it currently lacks. While Marouane Fellaini is a serious physical specimen himself, he can’t pass the ball like Carvalho…
United apparently want to seal a deal for Carvalho before the World Cup. Firstly, his price could rocket if he enjoys a good tournament, and secondly, the club don’t want another situation like last summer – when their dithering approach meant they only ended up with the aforementioned Belgian.
