Having forked out £27.5m to bring in the 26 year old Belgian last summer David Moyes then proceeded to use the powerful midfielder in a holding role that clearly didn’t suit the former Everton man and as such has been far from impressive in his debut campaign at the club.

It is however a little surprising that Man United would seek to offload Fellaini so swiftly, not least as any replacement for Moyes may well feel they can make better use of the undoubtedly talented midfielder.

Fellaini was known for causing opposition defences all sorts of problems whilst he was at Goodison Park but a move to play him in a deeper role hasn’t paid off and therefore it’s not surprising that he hasn’t managed to score a goal or contribute a single assist in 20 appearances.

Marouane Fellaini’s first Premier League start came in Man United’s 4-1 defeat to local rivals Man City and things haven’t looked up since.
