David De Gea wins the Manchester United POTY double

Manchester United may have gone nearly trophyless this season but their Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea has done the double!

The 23-year old shot-stopper has received both the Man United Players’ Player of the Year award as well as the Sir Matt Busby club Player of the Year award at a recent awards ceremony.

The Sir Matt Busby award is adjudicated by the fans of the club, and few would argue against De Gea winning it, having been rather consistent with his performances between the sticks for the Red Devils.

The former Atletico Madrid starlet, who signed for the Red Devils in 2011, has played in 36 out of United’s 37 Premier League games this season and has kept 12 clean sheets. De Gea finished ahead of second placed Wayne Rooney and third placed Adnan Januzaj by claiming 54 percent of the fans’ votes this season.
