Tottenham are confident they can win the race to sign Man United bit-part player Javier Hernandez according to Football Direct News.

White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy has received encouraging noises from the Mexican’s representatives and will look to find a buyer for £26m flop Roberto Soldado to help fund a £12m bid for the Old Trafford man.

Levy is no doubt reticent about bringing in further signings having forked out £110m on additions last summer and as such is wise to look to sell a few of the club’s expansive squad before re-investing.

Hernandez is a proven Premier League goalscorer and may well be keen on a move to north London where he would hope to secure the regular first team action he has doggedly fought for over the past four seasons.

Chicharito was pretty much a bench warmer but his chances became even more limited under David Moyes with the Guadalajara born marksman starting just four Premier League fixtures this season.

Hernandez has scored 59 goals in 151 appearances of which a massive 68 were from the bench.
