The Old Trafford side will hand Shaw a £160k a week deal in a five year contract that will see him become the long term replacement for veteran Frenchman Patrice Evra.
Man United have made an offer of £27m for Shaw but Southampton are holding off on agreeing a deal until a new manager has been appointed, with the south-coast club still yet to bring in a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, who left for White Hart Lane last month.
Shaw has had two excellent seasons in Southampton’s first team set-up, last term the full-back started 35 of the club’s 38 Premier League fixtures, and his form led to Roy Hodgson’s decision to axe Ashley Cole from the England World Cup finals squad.
