Benfica, Inter Milan and Juventus are reported to be fighting it out for the signature of Nani, who is likely to be leaving Old Trafford this summer.
A trio of European footballing giants are interested in offering a way out of Manchester United for Nani, according to today’s Daily Star.
New manager Louis van Gaal is likely to want to mould the squad in his own image and, after a disappointing couple of seasons for a player who retains a reasonable prospect of fetching a useful sum, the Portuguese winger is likely to be one of those who is expendable.
Benfica, Juventus and Inter Milan are all believed to be showing an interest in signing the fleet-footed wide man as they look to put the disappointments of this season behind them – Benfica having lost on penalties in the Europa League final, Juventus having failed to make an impact on the Champions League and Inter Milan having struggled domestically.
The 27 year-old winger has played more than 140 league games for United since his signing from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, but he has largely failed to live up to the early promise that saw him touted as the successor to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Nani is currently in Brazil as a part of the Portugal squad that are looking to make an impact on the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but will be keen to sort out his future as soon as possible for his return to club football.
