It has been a good start to life under new manager Louis van Gaal for Manchester United as they won the International Champions Cup on Sunday following a 3-1 victory over rivals Liverpool in the final.

It is now five victories out of five for the 13-time Premier League winners, but after finishing seventh in 2013/14 there is still much to prove for many of the current squad.

The midfielder has barely featured for the club for quite some time now and endured a disappointing loan spell with Fiorentina earlier this year – with the Serie A club turning down the chance to sign the Brazilian permanently.

The only real issue standing in the way of the 26-year-old’s departure is whether the Red Devils can find any takers, with even £5m proving too much to draw interest currently.
