There was a massive hoo-ha earlier this summer when Manchester City failed to make a big fuss of midfielder Yaya Toure on his birthday.
Local rivals Manchester United were keen to make sure that they avoided a similar episode on Robin van Persie’s big day.
United’s dinnerladies gave RVP a lovely-looking cake on Wednesday to celebrate the Dutch striker turning 31.
He was most grateful, posting the below picture to Instagram, along with the message: “Thanks for the beautiful B-day cake from my favourite ladies”.
