A move that will see the Belgian leave Old Trafford after just one season is said to be imminent with new boss Louis van Gaal seemingly happy to see the former Everton man leave for pastures new.
Former boss David Moyes forked out £27.5m to bring in Fellaini and then proceeded to use him in a holding midfield role which clearly didn’t suit the 26 year old and a move to Serie A may be best for all concerned though one wonders just how much the Serie A side is willing to offer for the flop.
Fellaini had enjoyed five strong campaigns at Goodison Park where he was more often than not used in an advanced role that made him a real handful for Premier League defences, as evidenced by his tally of 11 top tier goals in his final campaign on Merseyside.
It was therefore perhaps strange for Moyes to look to mould the powerhouse into a new role though it is perhaps true that Fellaini has become something of a scapegoat for last term’s failings.
A move to Napoli would secure Fellaini the Champions League action he won’t experienced at Man United in 2014/15 and could prove very tempting.
