The west London side will look to use German misfit Marko Marin as bait, with the Serie A side known to be keen on the pint-sized attacker, though one would imagine that it would take a massive sum as well as the bit-part player to convince the Florence side to sell.

Cuadrado enjoyed a standout campaign last term, netting 15 goals in all competitions, before impressing for Colombia at the World Cup finals.

Louis van Gaal is looking to offload a number of attackers, including Nani, Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa, and it’s therefore obvious to see why the Dutchman would be looking to spend big on Cuadrado though it’s not so evident as to why Jose Mourinho would feel the need to do so.

Mourinho can call upon the likes of Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Willian, Mohamed Salah and Victor Moses to call upon, not to mention youngster Christian Atsu and Lucas Piazon, to field in wide roles so is there a real need to spend big one on another option in the final third?
