Man United flop Marouane Fellaini is on the verge of completing a move to join Napoli on an initial loan spell according to the Daily Express.

The Old Trafford side had been looking to secure a £4m fee from the Serie A side for the 26 year old Belgian to make the temporary switch, though the Naples side are not willing to pay more than £2m.

However the two sides have come to an arrangement whereby each side will cover half of the player’s £100k a week wage packet, which does at least go some way to helping Man United to reduce their wage burden.

Fellaini is seemingly surplus to requirements at Man United and Louis van Gaal will happily allow the former Everton man to join Rafa Benitez, the irony being that the midfield powerhouse will get to feature in Champions League action whilst his parent club will not.

David Moyes brought Fellaini in last summer in a £27.5m deal and then proceeded to use the player in an unfamiliar holding role, one that did not suit the player at all, and one imagines a loan move may well lead to a permanent exit just so long as a club is willing to offer a decent portion of that which Man United paid for the player.
