Van Gaal had already made his mind up with regards to the futures, or lack thereof, of a number of his Man United squad ahead of the Premier League opener but had been forced to play some individuals due to a several players being ruled out of contention for the Swansea City clash.

Marouane Fellaini, Javier Hernandez and Nani all took part in the weekend fixture but all failed to take their last chance to prove their worth to van Gaal and as such all three have been made available for prospective suitors.

Indeed the club is ready to accept as little has half of the £27.5m they paid Everton for Belgian powerhouse Fellaini and would consider offers of around £10m each for either Chicharito or Nani, with Juventus said to be keen on both.

Brazilian pair Rafael and Anderson have both been informed that they are not part of van Gaal’s plans and are heavily linked with interest from Primeira Liga sides Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto respectively.

Crystal Palace are thought to be looking to sign both Wilfried Zaha and Nick Powell, with Tim Sherwood strongly tipped to take over at Selhurst Park, and the young pair are also among those van Gaal is ready to sell this summer.

Anders Lindegaard is also set to be offloaded with 24 year old English keeper Ben Amos having succeeded the Danish international as the back-up option to David de Gea.

Van Gaal has demanded that chief executive Ed Woodward brings in at least two more top quality signings with the emphasis on the purchase of a centre-back and a winger being priorities the Man United boss has outlined.

To that end Sporting Lisbon’s Marcos Rojo and Real Madrid wide-man Angel di Maria are seemingly top of the club’s wish-list.

Man United also continue to pursue Juventus playmaker Arturo Vidal though the Serie A side are steadfastly refusing to play ball and appear to have no intention of selling the Chilean.
