Hull City manager Steve Bruce is so desperate to force through a £12m move for Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, that he is prepared to give up his own son Alex to make the deal happen.

Blackburn are still hoping to hang on to their prize asset, and have already rejected two offers from the Premier League side, who are seeking a replacement for Shane Long, after he joined Southampton.

The Daily Mirror believe that the Tigers will now offer the Championship side a stunning deal that will also include defender Alex Bruce, a long term target for Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

Mirror sources state that the Blackburn owners – the Venkys – will now step in to accept the deal, and will give their manager the majority of the money to reinvest in his squad before the close of the transfer window.

Bruce can play centre half or right back, two problem positions in the Blackburn squad – and he is cleared to tie up his part of the move.

Rhodes is desperate to play in the Premier League, and is viewed as one of the best strikers outside of England’s top division, having scored 52 goals in 93 league appearances for Rovers.

Despite the proposed transfer, the Scottish international played in his club’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth today – scoring the opening goal.
