Man United Exclusive: Man United prepare £55m bid for Cristiano Ronaldo

Former manager David Moyes brought in Mata in January, investing a then club record fee of £37m, but it may be fair state that the Spanish international is yet to deliver on his very obvious ability.

Atletico Madrid, AS Rom and Juventus are all said to be eyeing up the 26 year old and Man United are ready to accept as little as £20m for the pint-sized playmaker.

This source also claims that Cristiano Ronaldo is open to a return to his former club, a move that could be partially funded by Mata’s sale.

By all accounts the Real Madrid star is impressed by Man United’s Galactico-eqsue recruiting policy and may feel the time is right for a move back to Man United.
