Carrick to play against West Ham United this evening.
Manchester United midfield Michael Carrick, who is yet to play for the club this season after undergoing an operation in the summer, is steppuing up his return to first team football with United after being named in the starting lineup for this evening’s Under 21 clash against West Ham United.

United could do with the defensively minded Carrick’s return due to the number of goals being shipped and lack of stablity shown by Louis van Gaal’s side, with the Dutchman likely to be hoping that he comes through this evening’s test without any negative effects.
Carrick is not the only player with United first team experience starring this evening, with goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, midfielder Jesse Lingard and defender Tyler Blackett also in the starting lineup for their Under 21 side.
