Mourinho was seen to have done a similar thing to singer Olly Murs during the Soccer Aid charity match that they were both involved in and the 51-year-old has jokingly warned di Maria that he could be next.
“Did you see the tackle I made? If I could do the same on Sunday, I would,” the Blues boss was quoted by the Metro.
“And it’s the same referee. If I see Di Maria in front of me dribbling, BOOM!”
Although Mourinho clearly said this with his tongue firmly in his cheek, there will be a tense atmosphere around the Theatre of Dreams as two of the league’s biggest teams go head-to-head.
The West Londoners are many peoples’ favourites to lift the title this season after a strong start to the campaign that has seen them win seven of their eight matches to date.
