Current first choice starer David de Gea has dislocated his finger and could be out of action for four weeks and Louis van Gaal is faced with the prospect of using Anders Lindegaard, who’s last appearance for the club came back in April.
This has led to Man United looking to fast-track their move for Valdes, who is set to be offered a contract by the Premier League side, though the 32 year old is still recovering from a serious knee injury that has sidelined him since March.
Valdes is a hugely experienced performer and when fit would certainly provide real competition for de Gea and United may be keen to get the deal done with Liverpool also said to be keen on the Spanish international.
During his 12 seasons in the Barcelona first team set-up Valdes won a host of honours including three La Liga titles and three Champions League winners medals.
