La Liga title holders keen on Old Trafford star.
Atletico Madrid have registered a £19m bid for Man United attacker Juan Mata according to Fichajes.
The 26 year old Spaniard may be tempted by a return to La Liga after seeing his chances at Old Trafford limited following the arrival of Louis van Gaal.
Mata has stared seven of Man United’s 11 Premier League fixtures but was subbed off on three of those occasions and when all options are fully fit the likes of Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney are ahead of the former Chelsea man in van Gaal’s pecking order.
Since moving to Man United in January Mata hasn’t exactly set the world alight but has weighed in with a decent number of goals and assists but hasn’t justified the £37.1m invested in his services.
A move to the Vicente Calderon would offer Mata a return to Champions League action and is perhaps an option given that new signing Antoine Griezmann is yet to re-capture the form that earned him a move from Real Sociedad to Atletico over the summer.
