The Colombian international has not managed to establish himself as a regular at Old Trafford this season, and there is speculation that he may not complete a permanent move to the club from AS Monaco.

Still, there would appear to be an offer on the table from Sunderland if he wants it, with Poyet admitting he is on the lookout for players to come in on loan for the second half of the season.

Still, the Uruguayan tactician admits it is hard to find players and that often it is the case that bigger clubs simply send out ones who are struggling fot fitness and who needs games to recover.

“Some people say to me ‘maybe you can get a player on loan who changes your season’,” he said.  “Where is that player?

“Unless it’s someone coming from a bad injury and needs to play, it’s difficult.

“Now if Man United want us to take Falcao for six months… We will do. But that doesn’t happen a lot.

“You need to be very smart in January.”
