The £40m rated Colombian has been the subject of intense transfer speculation for some months and with his side sat firmly in mid-table there is perhaps a very real possibility that the south American would push for a January exit.

Cuadrado netted 15 goals in all competitions last season and then impressed at this summer’s World Cup finals and van Gaal is seemingly keen on adding a fresh wide-attacking option to his squad.

Juan Mata is by no means a nailed on regular and Ashley Young has never delivered regularly for the club whilst youngster Adnan Januzaj doesn’t appear to be a player van Gaal rates all that highly.

Man United’s board handed van Gaal over £150m to invest in players over the summer and may well be ready to splash the cash again in order to help the club’s secure a coveted top four finish.
