Juan Mata has been branded a massive waste of money and a panic buy by Manchester United under David Moyes, but these incredible statistics show just how influential he has been since his £37m move from Chelsea.

The Spaniard was not considered a Jose Mourinho style player, and despite winning the Player of the Season award twice in a row, he saw himself frozen out of the team once the Portuguese manager arrived.
He was eventually sold to Manchester United, but looked to be struggling slightly following the move from West London.
Despite not looking the part however, Mata has been consistently producing since making the switch to Old Trafford. When you take a closer look at his figures, it becomes clear that the former Blue has been a fantastic success at his new club; especially when compared to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.

The ex-Valencia star has a better goals and assist ratio than his former teammate, with the pair scoring the same number of goals since Mata’s move to Manchester United and Hazard having one less assist.
Hazard has been tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner, while Mata has been branded a relative flop. Are these labels fair though?
